Teeth Whitening

The fact is your teeth need more than good hygiene and regular dental visits to stay bright and white. It is natural for them to darken as you age. Tobacco and foods such as coffee, tea and wine, can stain teeth. Even some medications can cause tooth discoloration.

Fortunately, now there is a safe, effective way to treat discoloration and give you the dazzling smile you've always wanted.

What happens during professional whitening

Our standard professional whitening is the least expensive and most conservative way to treat discoloration. It is requires two office visits along with at-home care for the best results. If you want faster results, consider our Zoom! One-Hour Whitening System.

During your first visit, we will evaluate your teeth and set a treatment goal. Before actual treatment begins, we will make impressions of your teeth that will be used to make custom bleaching trays for at-home use.

Your first visit includes a one-time "power" whitening that takes about an hour. A bleaching gel is applied directly to your teeth which are then exposed to special lighting to speed up the process. (During treatment, the soft tissues of your mouth will be covered by a protective barrier to prevent unnecessary exposure.) At the end of treatment, there should be a noticeable improvement in your tooth color.

During your second visit, you will receive your bleaching trays along with a special bleaching gel and instructions for at-home care over the next few weeks.

Bright, white teeth with lasting results

Within just a few weeks, your teeth should reach your treatment goal. Of course, results can vary, especially in individuals with naturally yellow teeth. But most people will have uniformly brighter and noticeably whiter teeth which will stay that way for years to come with occasional at-home maintenance.

Is professional whitening right for you?

Although highly effective for most people, professional whitening may not be the right choice if you have capped teeth or porcelain crowns. In those cases, bondings or veneers may be more appropriate options.

Professional whitening is not recommended for children under 13 years of age or women who are pregnant or lactating.
